Climbing

Wadi Rum offers world class opportunities for climbing. Modern rock climbing has developed in Wadi Rum since 1984, but some of the traditional Bedouin climbs date back thousands of years. I have experience climbing our routes for many years in Wadi Rum. We offer guided climbing tours for fit and experienced mountaineers.

Jebel Rum

Jebel Rum towers over Wadi Rum Village, this climb follows the Bedouin path. Rated 3 on the French System 4 hours of climbing. Scrambling with ropes, and abseiling required

2 person 150 JD per person

3 – 5 persons 140 JD per person.

Maximum 5 person per guide.

Jebel Khazali

This is perhaps the most dramatic of the Wadi Rum mountains, and one of the most beautiful places to climb for experienced mountaineers. Rated 3 on the French System This is a difficult climb and novices should not attempt it. 8 hours of climbing. Scrambling and abseiling required

What to pack for our climbing trips?

  • Climbing shoes
  • Gloves and comfortable climbing clothes
  • Sleeping bag (for overnight)
  • Headlamp / Torch (if you spend the night with us) A warm jacket (desert nights can be cold)
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Camera
  • Cash for payment (there is no ATM in Wadi Rum Village)

Climbing Services

  • Transport to any climbing routes in Wadi Rum (Burrah Canyon, Burdah Arch, Khazali
  • A camp where you can leave your luggage safely and tent overnight – guide to stay with your luggage at all times
  • Guide for safety, for cooking meals – breakfast and dinner

Climbing Accommodation

Wadi Rum Village

  • Room to stay in the village
  • Homestay with dinner 15JD – you can do breakfast yourself in our small kitchen or all meals independent
  • Private Camping – rent a tent or bring your own, we offer space to pitch

Wadi Rum Village has many small grocery shops and restaurants for meals. There is no ATM in Wadi Rum Village.

Mountain Pass

Hiking and Climbing Tour

DAY ONE Cross Rakhabat Canyon. We stop for lunch in canyon. We continue our hike to reach our camp near the Um Ishrin Mountains.

DAY TWO We begin the day crossing Um Ishrin to another valley near Um Makras and the Seven Pillars. lunch. It is here we spend our second night in the desert, sleeping under the stars.

DAY THREE This morning we travel by jeep for to Burrah Canyon. We spend the day crossing the canyon. We overnight sleeping in buurah canyon

DAY FOUR We travel by jeep to Jebel Burdah, here we climb to Burdah Arch, here you will have time to catch your breath, enjoy 360′ views over the desert, take photographs and drink Bedouin tea. We overnight here in a cave near the base of the mountain.

DAY FIVE We travel by jeep through the desert to Jebel Um Ad Dami, the highest peak in Jordan. We climb to the top, where there are views across Wadi Rum and the border of Saudi Arabia. We overnight in a cave near at the base of Um Ad Dami.

DAY SIX In the morning we travel by jeep to Khazali. We spend the day climbing Khazali with rope. We reach the peak in the afternoon. We overnight at the top of the mountain.

DAY SEVEN We climb down to the bottom. and sleep overnight in a cave near the base of the mountain,

DAY EIGHT In the morning we return to Wadi Rum village.

1 – 4 persons 70 JD/per day per person.
